The brand

History

Before 1976, "speaker cable" did not exist as a category — it was just generic electrical wire, the same as used in any home installation. It was the Swede Tommy Jenving (1945–2011) who changed that by launching the Supra Classic 2.5mm, the first cable developed specifically for high-fidelity audio reproduction — a product that "shook the foundations of the market" and effectively created the hi-fi cable industry as we know it today.

Jenving, described by his peers as "the father of the speaker cable", founded Jenving Technology AB and led the Supra brand with a philosophy called No-Nonsense Design: products derived from proven scientific principles, made with the highest-quality audible and measurable materials available, without marketing exaggeration or unnecessary frills. Over the decades, his team launched innovations that became references: the nylon mesh sleeve, the Swift connector, the Ply conductor concept, the Sword and LoRad cables and, more recently, the revolutionary Quadrax connector and very high-performance Cat 8 network cables.

All Supra products are designed and made at the company's own plant in Ljungskile, on the west coast of Sweden — never outsourced — ensuring full quality control from start to finish, under constant monitoring by its own certification team. In recognition of his lifetime contribution to the industry, Jenving received Sweden's Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2003 and the Arken Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2008, and was named "the greatest personality in Swedish hi-fi" in 2009. His legacy is kept alive by the Supra team, which in 2026 celebrates 50 years of uninterrupted Swedish manufacturing, cable by cable.
