Hikvision
Cameras and alarms with AI-powered analytics
About the brand
Hikvision
Hikvision, short for Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology, was founded in 2001 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, China. It began with digital video recorders (DVRs), video compression and CCTV cameras, and later moved into IP cameras, network video recorders (NVRs), intelligent traffic systems and AI video analytics. Its shares have traded on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange since 2010.
In 2024 Hikvision had revenue of around 92.5 billion renminbi, invested 11.9 billion in research and development (12.83% of revenue) and made 28.10% of its sales abroad. IHS reports for 2015 and 2016 ranked the company first in the world CCTV and video surveillance market, with 16.3% and 21.4% shares respectively. The group also sells products under other brands, such as Ezviz, HiLook and HiWatch, as well as storage under the Hiksemi brand.
In the residential and small business segment, Hikvision is known for cameras with ColorVu, which delivers colour images at night without extra lighting, and AcuSense, which separates people and vehicles from other movement to reduce false alarms. In 2020 it launched AX PRO, a wireless alarm system with a compact hub, detectors with cameras and video verification. In Brazil, the company has an office in São Paulo.

Highlights
Why choose this brand
ColorVu: colour at night too
A wide-aperture lens, a larger sensor and white light only when the scene is very dark.
AcuSense: fewer false alarms
The camera itself classifies movement as person, vehicle or other, and you choose what triggers an alert. Rain, branches and animals trigger less.
AX PRO wireless alarm
A compact hub with wireless detectors, some with cameras for video verification, and integration with IP cameras. Launched in 2020.
Face recognition access terminals
DS-K1T series terminals use deep learning to recognise faces, combine face, card, fingerprint and PIN, and open the door through Hik-Connect.
