Monitor Audio
British loudspeaker specialists since 1972
The brand
History
Monitor Audio was born in 1972, in the university city of Cambridge, England, at the hands of the engineer Mo Iqbal. His initial obsession was to solve a specific technical problem: the metal-dome tweeters of the time suffered from unwanted resonances outside the audible range. Iqbal's solution — coating domes with a thin ceramic layer — gave rise to C-CAM technology (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium), which is still the brand's sound signature today, combining the lightness of aluminium/magnesium with the stiffness of a ceramic coating for faster cones and domes with less distortion and colouration.
Over more than five decades based in Rayleigh, in the county of Essex, Monitor Audio has built up a series of proprietary innovations that became industry references: the MPD (Micro Pleated Diaphragm) tweeter, inspired by ribbon driver technology and capable of extremely wide and detailed dispersion; RST (Rigid Surface Technology), a geometric reinforcement pattern on the cone surface that increases stiffness without adding mass; and HiVe II, a bass-reflex port system that reduces turbulence and air noise in loud bass.
With its own factory and more than 50 years of British acoustic experience, Monitor Audio today serves everything from the simplest stereo system to the most ambitious home theater, with lines ranging from the affordable Bronze to the flagship Platinum, as well as invisible architectural solutions, reference subwoofers and rugged outdoor speakers. The philosophy remains the same as on day one: rigorous, tested and proven acoustic engineering, behind a design that combines the sophistication of 'British Design' with the performance that has earned the brand dozens of international awards from the specialist press.

Highlights
Why we work with it
Original C-CAM technology from 1972
A ceramic coating over aluminium/magnesium cones and domes, created by Mo Iqbal to eliminate unwanted resonances — the brand's sound signature for more than five decades.
MPD (Micro Pleated Diaphragm) tweeter
A pleated diaphragm technology inspired by ribbon drivers, delivering wide dispersion and very high treble detail in the Gold and Platinum lines.
RST II — Rigid Surface Technology
A geometric reinforcement pattern applied to the cone surface, increasing structural stiffness without adding mass, for a faster and more controlled dynamic response.
More than 50 years of British engineering
Based in Rayleigh, Essex, since 1972, the brand keeps its own manufacturing and acoustic R&D under the motto 'British Design | Performance Loudspeakers | Experts Since 1972'.
